Vancouver Canucks acquired defenceman Andrew Alberts from the Carolnia Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round pick in 2010.
The Vancouver Canucks made a deal with the Phoenix Coyotes, trading veteran defenceman Mathieu Schneider for blue liner Sean Zimmermanand a 2010 conditional sixth-round draft selection.
Vancouver also assigned defenceman Brad Lukowich to Manitoba on Wednesday. The 33-year-old has a goal and an assist in 13 games this season.
Canucks Also Acquired center Yan Stastny from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for left wing Pierre-Cedric Labrie.

The Vancouver Canucks have added a lot of depth to their blueline. The team has acquired defencemen Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenceman Daniel Rahimi and forward Patrick White. Vancouver also announced on Friday that they have inked veteran defenceman Mathieu Schneider to a contract.
With this move the Canucks have a deep defense but a very tight cap max. Is this a prelude to bring in a top 6 forward while moving one of our defensemen (Bieksa? Salo? Edler?)
While Luongo has not signed the extension yet and Its just rumored that its for that dollar value. Once (IF) it gets done I think we can then all discuss if its out of control or not.
While it is still early and Unless Gillis is waiting for the dominos to fall after a Luo extension to use Corey as a trading chip Im not sure where he is going to get his PP defenseman from. if M.A. Bergeron was the answer why isn’t he signed now?
The crop of UFA Dmen grows thin so Im not sure what hes waiting for as our youth is still not deep enough to pull off a trade that
1) will benefit us now and medium term and
2) will not clean our our half full cupboard of talent…
LOTS to do for this team and Gillis is really doing no better than Nonis past Drafting. My feeling is that he expects big things from Burrows, Bernier, Hodgson, Grabner, Past Hodgson Im not too excited about that either.
Add to that There is NO talk of our #1 Shutdown Dman Willie Mitchell signing his extension or even word of anyone worried that he is UFA next year one must wonder if he even fits our plans for next year. The cap WILL go down next year and most likely we will be one of the teams most affected by that with Luo, Mitchell, Kesler all getting raises with Kesler getting the biggest raise (most likely more than double his current salary).
So What are you up to Gillis? Thinking about raising Ticket prices again?
