Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the team has signed right wing, Sergei Shirokov.
Shirokov, 23, recorded 41 points (17-24-41) in 56 games with CSKA Moscow of the KHL in 2008-09. He has also appeared in two World Junior Championships as a member of team Russia in 2005 and 2006. In 12 games played over two tournaments, Shirokov registered 13 points (7-6-13).
The 5-foot-10, 176 lbs. native of Moscow, was drafted 163rd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
