Happy Hockey Day in Canada

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Canucks @ Leafs
Canadiens @ Senators
Oilers @ Flames

One of the best days of the hockey year. Where all 6 canadian teams face each other in one day. Unfortunately it will be hosted by the biased CBC and their referee cohorts for the days festivities.

Once marveled upon as the best Hockey show on TV, HNIC with its recent display of biased loyalty to the NHL and the all so mighty Toronto Maple Leafs has left such a sour taste in our mouths. TSN should take over all Hockey shown in Canada and become a true hockey Network. We can handle their East biased as they will give the West their due.

Bitter? A little we suppose but what can we do. Most other teams bloggers (and I dont consider us a blogger in any means we are just hacks having fun) consider all Canucks fans to be whiney and sad and half our team to be punks and divers.

Nothing we are going to say it going to change anyones minds. Lots of negativity has been against the Canucks in hockey circles of late. The Canucks begin their mammoth 14 game road trip and we can say all we want is to win and win lots. Winning takes everything away. And it seems to come a little easier when the world is against you.

NHL and CBC Vilifies Alex Burrows – Coach V Defends

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Case Closed. Well so said the NHL last week. In that Span Colin Campbell has gone on Radio out East and Last night on CBC pre game to Vilify our Alex Burrows. While of course we in the Canuck West hold a little (if not a lot in some cases) bias for Burrows I think everyone agrees that the evidence against Auger was damning. The Above video of Coach V defending Alex 100% so vehemently shows a few things.

  1. Ron McLean hold 1000% bias for the NHL. Not even his Media Background prevented him from embarrassing himself on the way he talked about Burrows and showed the Eastern Video replays of the events that led to this mess. He didn’t talk about the 31 seconds that Auger talked to Burrows pre game (as talked about in the Video) he just pointed out what he felt and he decided to interpret to the delight of the NHL as showing Burrows faking everything.
  2. The NHL is tainted even more. They are really the bottom of the barrel of the professional league and has no care that their officials change games at their will on ego.
  3. Coach V loves his team, loves his players and will go to the wall for them each and every-time. This is a makings of a great coach. This will help this team bond through this and the monster road trip up coming.

This needs to go away now and the only way it will is if the NHL just shuts the hell up about it. They seem to be doing all the talking and the Canucks are just responding. Burrows has shut-up about it and the Canucks did to until Colin Campbell decided to run his mouth all week. Coach V called out the NHL last night. He Called out Stephen Auger and we applaud him for it.

On the way out of GM Place last night. Coach V had this last comment.

“I’m not done with our boy Ron,â€

Well Done Coach.

NHL fails in Haiti Relief

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Major League Baseball (MLB) donates $1 Million dollars to Haiti relief. The National Hockey League (NHL) donates $100K…… really. what a joke that is. Every NHL team should donate $100K EACH…… While any amount is good. the NHL is run by Billionaires and played by Millionaires and they can as a league only donate $100K???? Im sure many players will donate in the League quietly but the NHL needs to be bigger than this.

Burrows Big Mistake

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Was not telling about what happened with Stephen Auger but it was in the way he did it. If Burrows was able to keep his emotions in check, go straight to Coach V and GM Gillis and explain to them what happened with Auger in the warm up they would have compiled their evidence and sent it to the league who most likely still would not have done anything anyway which is what their M.O. has always been with their internal issues.

By Speaking out loud and with almost every reporter in ear shot Burrows tagged himself with the Theo Fleury syndrome with Referees. They are all going to be against him.

Whether you agree with it or not and Bob Mackenzie summed it up best is that this happens ALL the time in this league to players like Burrows, Bertuzzi, Avery etc… They will get these phantom calls their whole careers of who they are and what they have done in the past. This one was WAY more blatant then any we have seen but the fact remains the same its probably going to happen again. Or there will be a non call on a play that deserves a penalty.

The NHL has no control over their real conduct of the league and Campbell, Daly and Bettman has shown it again. Hey at least Auger is not betting on games and Burrows is not on Steroids or carrying guns into nightclubs, if they were then they would be like those other leagues……. we at least we only have our Refs dictating the way games play out of their own egos…..
