Luongo blanks Oilers Canucks 1 game over .500

Monday, October 26th, 2009

This is what happens when I try to be a goal scorer.

The Vancouver Canucks are 1 game over .500 and they did it not with their best performance of the season but they did do it with a complete effort. It wasnt the prettiest of games to watch nor was there anything magical or unbelievable about Roberto Luongos Performance, but that is just it – it didnt have to be anything but a greasy home win after a second game of a back to back.

Roberto Luongo is gaining steam and coming off 2 games which should have both been shutouts you can see he is feeling better each day and getting bigger in net. The team is also starting to gain confidence around him and is starting to show it outwards from the defense up.

Michael Grabner notched his second goal of this season and his first Game Winner on a deflection off a point shot that beat the Rookie back up goalie for the Oilers Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers.

Henrik Sedin tallied the second goal for the Vancouver Canucks bringing the Canucks to 6-5 on the season and 6-2 in their last 8. The Canucks are also on a 5 game winning streak at GM place and a 3 game winning streak overall seeing them win in Chicago Blackhawks, against the Toronto Maple Leafs and now the Edmonton Oilers.

Next up Detroit for what should be a usual great game.

YEAH BABY WERE .500.. Lets keep it going

YEAH BABY WERE .500.. Lets keep it going um Ohlund your in Tampa Bay now!

The Vancouver Canucks made .500 on the season. This is where the season can start anew and the Canucks redeem where they went wrong  in the first three games.  The Canucks started the season 0-3. They have gone 5-2 since then and are showing still some signs of lapse and defensive issues.

While the leafs did have a strong game last night they are not exactly um the Colorado Avalanche…. We kid but they are the worst team in the NHL and the Canucks had a tough time to win that game in the 3rd period.

Roberto Luongo is back. He has a 1.50 GAA in his last 4 games is 3-1 in that span. The Oilers streak is just as sizzling winning 4 of their last 4 but losing last night to the Flames 5-2.

Do both the Canucks and Oilers go back to back with their goaltenders? Especially the Canucks who still need to gain ground and ride Roberto’s hot streak and try to get revenge on the Oilers?  Word is the Canucks will start Luongo.

The Oilers won’t have defensemen Sheldon Souray or Steve Staios. The Oilers have the Flu bug running through their team as Gilbert Brule, Mike Comrie were out of the lineup against the Flames and Fernando Pisani is still out with a back injury.

The Canucks will get back (or start finally) Mats Schneider and thier PP should be the stronger for it (they tallied 2 more PP goals last night). Pavol Demitra, Sami Salo, Daniel Sedin and Rick Rypien remain on the sideline.

Go Canucks Go…

Canucks hand Leafs worst start in Leafs history

Saturday, October 24th, 2009
Thank God I wasnt in Net it could have been 8-1

WE ARE SO HAPPY TO BE LEAF FANS!

The Canucks are .500. They are finally 5-5 and moving up in the conference.

Is it temporary? The Canucks were TERRIBLE JUST TERRIBLE in the 3rd period of tonights game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

That being said, Luongo, Kesler and Raymond were spectacular tonight in giving the Maple Leafs their 7th loss in their 8th game and their WORST START IN TORONTO MAPLE LEAF HISTORY…. nice…..

The Leafs suck but the Canucks DID not make it easy tonight and gave them many chances in the third period to win this game. Raymond was awesome and so was Kes and Lou. Coach AV was very good tonight in his execution and deliverance in his lines and decisions.

Well done Canucks to pull this out. Lets hope the Oilers get exhausted tonight……

WTF do you mean I dont sell Tickets?

WTF do you mean I dont sell Tickets?

Same Canucks Story…. Same Maple Leaf gong show.

The Canucks come into tonights game with a single goal in mind. Win to get to .500. Forget the circus that has been following Brian Burke and his Toronto Maple Leafs… Actually forget that. Forget the circus that has been following Brian Burke only. As its all about Burke. Brian Burke is doing what Brian Burke does best. Takes the spotlight off his struggling team and puts it on himself.

With Brian Burkes team spiraling into a 0-6-1 start and heading for a even worse season Brian Burke has spouted off on the Canucks again this week about the tampering charges (under a gag order no less) and on the fact Roberto Luongo does not sell tickets (mind you he did say that about Niklas Lidstrom as well but to do that in Vancouver is to say that Trevor Linden was just a player here).

He wants to take the heat, the fine and the spotlight and hopefully try to get his team out of this terrible funk, and its a bad funk.

The Leafs will probably be starting their third string goal Joey McDonald even though The Swedish rookie known as the “The Monster” was seen participating in his first full practice since injuring his groin.

The Canucks will be looking to start a roll in which they have played 3 straight solid games and are coming off a chippy affair and their first road win again the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Canucks always seem to be prepared to play against the Leafs and try to drown out any Maple Leaf Chants in GM Place as usual there will be a huge contigent of Maple Leaf fans at the game tonight (how the heck do they get tickets or do some Canucks fans switch jersies for one night? I bet the Canucks fans gouge the Leaf fans for high ticket prices)

This game should be chippy and nasty and a PP decided game and with the way the Canucks Power Play is producing Toronto may not want to be as scrappy as they normally are. Well they have to do something at 0-6-1

Go Canucks G0…..
