GDT – Canucks @ Flames – Pre Season Game 8

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

The Canucks suffered their first loss in pre season last game as they fell to the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in overtime. A huge game by backup goalie wannabe Andrew Raycroft highlited the night and the next 2 games as well. While Roberto Luongo gets the whole game tonight you can be sure that Corey Schneider will be looking over his shoulder and knowing he will have to be at the top of his game if he is to hope to stay with the big club.

Pope and O’brien scored for the Canucks last game as they almost came from behind again for a second straight game.

Tonight the Canucks will surely face a Flames team that will ice a almost NHL ready lineup so the remaining roster spots will be up for grabs. It should be a very spirited game.

GDT – Ducks @ Canucks – Pre Season Game 7

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

The Canucks continue to roll in the pre-season winning their 6th straight last night against the San Jose Sharks in a 4-3 shootout win at GM place. Raymond continued his strong pre season play with his second goal in consecutive games with Edler also notching a tally as well as Tanner Glass. Raymond continued his strong play scoring the shootout winner. Roberto Luongo played strong and big in net making several highlite saves in Overtime to preserve the chance for Raymond to win it in the shooutout with a spin-a-ramaΒ goal. The real story of last nights game was Jannik Hansen who had the strongest game of all without scoring a goal. The Great Dane is going to make it difficult for AV and Gillis to pick a final roster with his strong play on and off the puck.

Next up tonight is the Anaheim Ducks as the Canucks close out their home pre season games and then go on the road for the remaining 2 games. Can the Canucks go for 7 straight? Expect a very different lineup tonight and as strong play from the youngsters as possible as AV and Gillis are expected to make significant cuts this Friday September 25th.

Game is on Canucks TV online and Team 1040.

Here is the expected lineup (subject to change).

Daniel Sedin-Henrik Sedin-Samuelsson
Grabner-Wellwood-Hodgson
Rypien-Mark Parrish-Bliznak
Glass-Ryan Johnson-Pope

Mitchell-Salo
Rome-O’Brien
Ehrhoff-Funk

Andrew Raycroft (last start)

GDT – Flames @ Canucks – Pre Season Game 5

Monday, September 21st, 2009

The Kiddie Canucks managed to take 3 in a row on a 3 game 3 night pre season schedule to improve their record to 4-0-0. The Canucks now get into the second half of the pre season with 5 games remaining.

The Canucks are coming off a home victory 3-1 over the Edmonton Oilers that saw Cody Hodgson score his first goal of the pre season in his first game (empty netter).

Roberto Luongo was solid again in goal.

The Canucks should see a vastly different line up tonight as the regular season creeps closer and more cuts will start to unfold.

Will Grabner emerge from his shell of invisibility? Will he break the ice and start to show that he belongs?
